In Switzerland you can open an account in pounds, and one in the other currency. Then you transfer the pounds with no commission. Then convert the cash at the swiss bank. Finally you take out your new currency from a cash machine in that country, with your cash safe. Swiss banks are very competitive so they will not rip you off like UK banks do. You will get less interest on Swiss francs and Euros but dollars and pounds are devaluing faster than 10% per year and nobody will pay you this much !
